Pure green tea

Pure green teas are sought after not only by tea experts. They are often the focus of explorers of new flavours and aromas. Thanks to their unique characteristics reflecting the place where they were grown, they are also loved by many travellers.

Take them to the high mountains of China, the green hills of Japan or the oldest tea gardens of India. You will discover the beauty of dozens of tea types - from flat-leaf Banchi to needle-like Sencha, tightly rolled Gunpowder and oddly twisted Chun Mee to carefully shaped Jade Eyes or the "rice" speciality Gen Mai Cha.

You can taste natural sweetness, refreshing astringency, and pleasant smokiness, and detect notes of fruit, honey, jasmine, pine or chestnut.

Flavour and aroma. That is what it is all about.

As in all other areas, the tea range is subject to the honesty of the merchants. The harvest is not always a success, sometimes the weather is bad, or the harvest is not quite right. Moreover, each type of tea is characterised by a different aroma, appearance and colour. How to make sense of it all? Very simply, we can say that the finest teas tend to be whole-leaf teas.

  • They have a smooth taste and feel light on the tongue. An appropriate example is China Bancha Bio.
  • A good tea contains equal-sized pieces of leaves or fragments of similar colour. It does not contain twigs, sand, grass, feathers or stones.
  • Fine and delicate teas are rich in leaves with a finely hairy tip. These are so-called tips, i.e. undeveloped tea buds. They can be silver, grey or golden. Usually, the more tips, the better the tea. They can be found, for example, in White Monkey, China Mao Feng Criss Cross or Jade Eyes Green tea.
  • You can also tell a well-made tea by its aroma. Each type has a different one, which is even different from the aroma of the final beverage. Desirable scents include sweet, honeyed, herbal, fresh hay, fruity, almond, spicy aroma, and many others. Long Zhu Jasmine stands out with its intoxicating jasmine aroma, Yung Xiang impresses with peaches, and Fog Tea leaves a trail of fresh grass and roasted chestnuts in the mouth.
