Fruit tea with hibiscus
Fruit tea with hibiscus is a classic. It can be found in every household, although perhaps a little camouflaged. Hibiscus is added to the tea for better colour and more intense flavour. In the case of quality loose tea, however, there is no need to improve anything. We use the red flowers of the plant, which was revered by the ancient Egyptians, for its high vitamin content.
As for fruit teas, we select only the best fruit and add the selected hibiscus. That is to ensure that your moments with loose fruit tea are among your best.
All about hibiscus
Everything containing the hibiscus takes on a beautiful crimson colour and a fresh, sour taste. The plant, a member of the mallow family, is found mainly in the tropics and subtropics. In our country, it is best known as a houseplant.
In Egypt, hibiscus tea is served under the name karkade which is said to have been enjoyed by the pharaohs. It refreshed them on hot days and also awakened their skin. The infusion of hibiscus flowers strengthens blood vessels, disinfects, has a diuretic effect, regulates blood pressure and optimises cholesterol levels.
It should be noted, however, that hibiscus tea can cause an allergic reaction. Therefore, young children should be given only a few sips as a test first. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid drinking tea with hibiscus altogether.
