Origins
Sea buckthorn is one of the many herbs used by our ancestors. Records of its use date back to ancient Greece. Its Latin name, Hippophae, refers to "horses that shine". In fact, the Greeks found that animals grazing near sea buckthorn shrubs had beautifully shiny coats and strong health.
Sea buckthorns are native to Northeast Asia: they can be found in China, the Caucasus, Mongolia, Nepal, India and Siberia. However, as they have become very popular in Europe, it is not unusual to see sea buckthorns growing in central Europe. The thorny shrub grows to about 2m and its orange berries ripen in late August and October. Although we could have picked most of the ingredients in this tea from our backyard garden, we opted for a European supplier. Firstly, they're backed up by the results of chemical analyses, which clearly show that the raw materials do not contain heavy metals or other harmful substances, and secondly, they guarantee the high quality of the processing of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices. The fruit is preserved by freeze-drying. Its greatest advantage is considered to be the preservation of the sensory properties of the raw material without loss of vitamins.
The herbs and spices are carefully dried. Everything is stored by our supplier under strict hygienic conditions. We also always pay great attention to the choice of aromatics.
In some cases, we harmonize the loose teas with their help. They retain their aroma longer and their taste is intensified. We always choose a purely natural aromatic.
Sea buckthorn contains 10 times more vitamin C than an orange, and is also a great source of vitamins A, D, F, K and B, minerals and antioxidants.
