Pressed Pu Erh

Pressed Pu Erh can be called green Sheng Cha or dark Shu Cha. In both cases, however, the tea is more or less fermented in the presence of bacteria and moulds naturally found on the leaves of tea trees. They give the tea its unique flavour and aroma, sometimes described as earthy, reminiscent of damp leaves or moss.

Pu Erhs are pressed into various shapes, weighing from 2 to 500 grams (but also higher). You can find nests, bricks, or flat shapes. Quality-pressed Pu Erh naturally ages, its flavour rounds out, and its astringency decreases with proper storage.
