Yi Wu Mountain Pu Erh – 357g
Beautiful to look at, delicious to taste. The limited edition of Yi Wu Mountain Tea is said to come from a region that's been cut off from the rest of the world by an impenetrable desert till the last century. Perhaps it's the unique conditions of eastern China that give this unique tea its mild, pleasantly earthy taste. Perhaps it is the hands of the local workers and the skill of the tea garden owners. Maybe it's the 5-year aging process. Judge for yourself...
Ingredients
100 % Red tea Pu Erh YI WU MOUNTAINBrew & Taste
The 5-year-old Yi Wu Mountain Pu Erh is one of the top teas with a very pleasant, mild taste. Newcomers to the world of tea often don't take to Pu Erh quickly, but in this case, it is quite possible. The taste shows the typical earthiness of Pu Erh just enough to illustrate the overall harmonious impression. The final sweetness of the drink stays on the palate for a long time. The infusion has a dark, almost opaque color.
Origins
It is not easy to trace the origin of this unique Pu Erh. Its cultivation, harvesting and production methods are protected as strictly as the world's best inventions. But what we do know, we're happy to reveal.
This extraordinary edition of Pu Erh is made from the leaves of ancient, wild tea trees. They are found in the hills of Yi Wu mountain, scattered at an altitude of 650-2,023m. Plucking them is therefore no mechanical matter, but a matter of moving up a steep jungle-covered slope, often not very safe. The leaves are very carefully selected, plucked by hand, of course, and brought down to the processing site.
The leaves are left to wilt briefly during the production of Pu Erh, then the natural oxidation of the enzymes must be halted through high temperature and the tea leaves rolled and dried. But that's not all. To make the best Pu Erh, the dry tea needs to be moistened, piled into heaps and left to ferment. Thanks to the Aspergillus and others strains found on tea leaves, the tea can mature to the desired flavor and aroma. Sometimes this takes a few days, sometimes months.
Eventually, producers resort to pressing tea into cakes, nests or bricks. Even at this stage, the tea is allowed sufficient time to mature. In the case of Yi Wu Mountain Pu Erh, this was a full 5 years.
