Ingredients
100 % Red tea Pu Erh Mini Tou ChaBrew & Taste
Pu Erh Mini Tuo Cha Gold Premium tea has a dark, brownish-red color. It's good to know that the first infusion tends to be very strong, sometimes too much so. For this reason, it is traditionally used to pour over statues of tea gods. Other infusions are more delicate, sweeter, softer and lighter. Pu Erh is, in short, a tea that is good to savor properly. Then it becomes an easy-drinking tea.
Origins
Wu Liang Shan, from which this tea originates, is a mountain range located in Simao Prefecture, Yunnan Region. Its highest mountains rise to an altitude of 3,300m and provide the backdrop for a number of tea gardens. The highest situated one lies at 2,300m and has some of the oldest tea bushes in the world. Healthy, 200-year-old tea trees grow wild on the steep slopes and ridges of the mountains. Poor access to these areas guarantees an undisturbed environment. The teas that come from this and the surrounding gardens boast perfect sensory qualities and absolute purity of taste.
The production of Pu Erh is done under very strict conditions. Usually only buds with 2-3 leaves are harvested. They are left to wilt in the shade to lose some of the moisture, then workers roast them in pans. And they do this in large batches. This ensures that the fermentation enzymes are not completely destroyed, because they are the ones that contribute to the desired ageing of Pu Erh. The hot and moist leaves need to be quickly rolled up, then the tea is dried in the sun, the sunnier the better. Tea made in this way is called Mao Cha. In the case of Pu Erh, it is a kind of semi-finished product. Mao Cha is further steamed, pressed and dried for a long time at a low temperature.
Pu Erh has long been an unattainable commodity for ordinary consumers. Originally, they were supplied only to the emperor and his guests. This is also why they are sometimes found under the name "tea of emperors".
This particular Pu Erh was pressed into the shape of small nests. Other teas are shaped like large cakes or bricks. However, the desired amount of tea has to be peeled off with a sharp tool. Unlike traditional green or black teas, Pu Erhs are stored for a longer period of time (some for a couple of decades) to fully develop all the flavors and aromas.
