It is clear as soon as you open the bag that this pu erh is delicious. The pleasant cherry aroma wafts not only from the loose tea, but also from the brew. It is a deep orange, almost opaque color. The taste is earthy and natural. On the palate, the tea leaves a pleasant fruity trace with a rum aftertaste.
This pu erh is also suitable for iced tea.
Origins
Pu erh teas come mostly from the Chinese province of Yunnan. The leaves of the Chinese tea plant undergo microbial fermentation and oxidation after they are dried and rolled. This process is a Chinese trade secret. Pu erh is traditionally sold in two forms – as loose Mao Cha, or pressed into shapes as Seng Cha. For their preparation, the buds and the 3-4 adjacent leaves are harvested. A highly complex process of heating, rolling, moistening, drying and pressing produces blocks, nests or bars of tea. They are often imprinted with a whole tea leaf or a flower. Their weight ranges from 100g to 5kg, they are left to ripen for varying lengths of time and are broken down for use.
We have purchased large pieces of sour cherries from a certified partner in the EU. Their fruit comes from controlled agriculture, so it is free of heavy metals or other harmful substances. The cherries have been preserved using a special freeze-drying method. In this process, the fruit is vacuum freezed at a low temperature. It retains all the necessary sensory properties and looks, tastes and smells as fresh.
No need to worry about added natural flavoring either. Our loose teas provide only the finest quality without synthetic fragrance carriers. The natural aroma does not cause acidity, stomach irritation nor allergic reactions.
