With Silver Kandy, you can look forward to deep and full flavor with sweet notes and dark copper color.
Origins
The cultivation of tea plants has become the alpha and omega of agriculture in many regions of Sri Lanka. The city of Kandy in the Central Province is a prime example of such an area. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, according to a legend, the site of the most precious Buddhist relic, the tooth of Buddha, it's a popular destination for pilgrims and tourists. Most importantly, it is also a renowned site for black tea cultivation.
This is due to the predominantly tropical climate with ample moisture from monsoon rains. The relatively low altitude of around 300-800m and the soil rich in all the necessary nutrients make the local area ideal for growing tea trees. The young leaves can be harvested at short intervals and still retain their premium quality and taste.
Silver Kandy FBOPF is unique in several ways compared to other teas processed here. As the name suggests, it contains silver shoots, which is truly exceptional in Ceylon teas. It is harvested entirely by hand and, as it is a single-origin tea, the unique characteristics of the leaves from the Kandy plantations are preserved.
The local growers pride themselves on their strictly observed principles in the production of tea. The leaves retain their distinctive black color when dried and are tightly rolled. By that, they gain an intense and captivating aroma. The abbreviation FBOPF confirms that Silver Kandy is one of Ceylon's top products. We recommend trying it with milk, which adds harmony to the tea without overpowering its flavors.
