Origins
Pu Erh is a double-fermented tea from the Yunnan province of China. Its production is very mysterious, and the length of the process varies. The choice of tea plants for pu erh is special – according to tea masters, the best red tea can only be made from old and wild bushes. The buds and 3-4 surrounding leaves are harvested. They are left to wilt, quickly heated in large pans, then rolled, measured, dried, moistened, and finally pressed into bars, nests, or bricks. They are left to mature in this state, which can take several years for the rarest teas.
We have added mate to pu erh for its elegant aroma and many valuable substances. It is made from the leaves of the Paraguayan holly, a tree that grows in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The whole twigs are harvested and are briefly singed to stop fermentation, then dried, crushed, and sieved. The mate is then packed in large bags to mature for 12-24 months.
We buy our fruit and herbs verified EU suppliers. Their products come from organic farming, so there is no need to worry about the presence of heavy metals or other harmful substances.
