Brew & Taste

The light golden infusion of organic Nepal White Prakash will get you on its side with the aroma alone. It's fresh, floral, and delicately sweet, with hints of vanilla and blooming mountain meadows. The flavor is surprisingly full, silky, and beautifully round. Buttery notes of cream are the most noticeable at first, but they're gradually complemented by muscatel, vanilla, and floral sweetness. Thanks to a special rolling process, this tea has a more complex profile than most white teas, yet it retains its lightness and purity. It tastes great hot, but is just as impressive when prepared using the cold brew method, which allows its fresh, floral character to fully shine through.

Origins

White teas are considered the most delicate category of true teas. They're made from the young buds and the youngest leaves of the Chinese tea plant (Camellia sinensis), which undergo only very gentle processing. Unlike green, oolong, or black teas, they're generally not rolled or heated intensely – after harvesting, they're simply allowed to wither and then dried. As a result, they retain a fresh, slightly floral character, a delicate flavor, and a high content of naturally occurring polyphenols.

Organic Nepal White Prakash, however, partially deviates from this tradition. Although it is a white tea, its production involves a brief and very gentle rolling process. After withering naturally, the hand-picked buds and young leaves are placed in a rolling machine for a few minutes, where gentle pressure causes the essential oils to be released. These oils give the tea an exceptionally intense floral aroma and a surprisingly full-bodied flavor. It is therefore no coincidence that White Prakash is sometimes nicknamed 'silver oolong' – it combines the elegance of white teas with the richness of lightly processed oolongs.

The tea comes from the organic Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Centre in Nepal’s Panchthar region. The plantations are situated at altitudes of 1,300-1,800 meters at the foot of the majestic Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain. The cooler Himalayan climate, frequent fog, and clean mountain air create ideal conditions for the slower growth of tea bushes and the production of exceptionally aromatic teas with a rich flavor profile.

Deepak Prakash Baskota founded Nepal’s first certified organic tea garden in 1984. His goal was not only to produce top-quality tea, but also to provide the local people with a dignified livelihood and to develop the region in a sustainable manner. The garden continues to operate today on a cooperative basis and places equal emphasis on tea quality, nature conservation, and support for the local community.

White Prakash was created in honor of its founder, which resulted in a tea that's gained worldwide recognition thanks to its unique flavor. It won a bronze medal at the 2019 Global Tea Championship and other awards from international tea competitions. Its exceptional character will be most appreciated by lovers of delicate white teas and light Taiwanese oolongs who are seeking new taste experiences.
