100 % Organic China Green Pu Erh Sheng Cha

Brew & Taste

The beautiful golden color is interwoven with green highlights. The tea has a rich and unique flavor of honey, fruit and herbs, which slowly develops into pleasantly earthy notes without unwanted bitterness.

Origins

Every Chinese tea lover should give Pu Erh a try. What's more, it's also a delicious bridge to the teas of the former Middle Kingdom. Most Pu Erh representatives on the market are pressed into shapes resembling a bowl or a nest, but the loose form certainly doesn't lack quality either.

The treasure from the southern province of Yunnan, where the climate is dominated by the monsoon, is often likened to wine for its properties. In fact, unlike other teas, it ages well, so it can lie on the pile for as long as necessary, provided the correct humidity and temperature are strictly maintained, and it is only to its benefit.

Green Pu Erh, or sheng cha, is nonetheless different from other Pu Erhs. It is considered to be the original form of this type of tea, with roots going back some 1,800 years. The freshly harvested leaves are allowed to wilt naturally before being quickly, but only lightly, cooked in pans. They are then hand-rolled and placed under the sun to dry. The subsequent resting time allows the aroma and flavor to harmonize, and over time you get an intense and simply irresistible tea.

As the aging time increases, so does the price, so it is quite incomprehensible that the oldest green Pu Erhs were deliberately destroyed during the Great Cultural Revolution. Perhaps this was also due to the corruption of the original natural healers who considered Sheng Pu Erh to be a miracle for human health. During storage and maturation, special microorganisms act on the leaves and the resulting chemical processes enhance its positive effect against various ailments.

You can find many delicious and exclusive Pu Erhs on the market, but if you come across one that also comes from organically grown tea trees, believe us, the difference in taste will be noticeable. In fact, organic China Green Pu Erh Sheng Cha can offer a unique full-bodied flavor with a rich reservoir of varied nuances from sweet to earthy. This makes it a real treat for true connoisseurs and novice experimenters alike, who may also enjoy the naturally low caffeine content.
