Ingredients
100 % Black tea Assam FTGFOP1 1ST Flush BaghmariOrigins
Baghmari in East Bengal is quite the distance from Europe. But the tea harvested there is closer than you might think. Assam is one of the most popular teas in Europe, perhaps because black teas have been known to Europeans since the 19th century, or the tea trees of the plateau in northern India are renowned for producing high-quality leaves with a delicate, sweet aroma, a pleasantly astringent taste and a bright, golden yellow color.
Assam FTGFOP1 First Flush Baghmari comes from the first harvest, hence the "first flush" in its name. Tea trees in the flat landscapes of Assam start sprouting their first shoots in March, with harvesting taking place over the next 8-10 weeks. The leaves are plucked into large baskets and carried on the backs of locals. They are fermented whole, not crushed or rolled. The yield is not as large at the first harvest, so first flush is exported in limited quantities.
