Origins
We brought the delicious Yunnan from the area around Simao (Pu Erh City), where several tea gardens are located at an altitude of 1,600m. This is the Yunnan Broad Leaf variety. It is characterized by its extraordinary taste and aroma, as well as its silvery, fluffy leaves. This tea is one of the real highlights and is treated as such during harvesting and processing.
The tea leaves are picked in early spring and in the morning, before the dew falls. Moisture would cause the leaves to heat up in the baskets and then ferment. Farmers prevent this by briefly but vigorously steaming the wilted leaves. This gives Yunnan Green Superior its beautiful color and preserves its health benefits. After steaming, it is rolled into small needles and dried. It is then sorted by size and quality, packed and shipped.
This tea is also known as Yunnan or Jian Lu Cha around the world.
