Brew & Taste

White Moon tea has a golden yellow color. Its aroma is mild and gentle. The taste can be described as sweet, pleasant and captivating. In the depths of the tea we can taste lychee, a sweet exotic fruit.

Origins

White teas are almost exclusively of Chinese origin. Although China does not produce them in large volumes (they make up about 1% of all teas produced in China), they have become well-known around the world. They are called "white" not because of the color of their infusion, but because of the silvery color of their young, fluffy leaves. These are mostly hand picked and are just dried slowly. They are not rolled nor heated up, as is common with green teas. In the case of White Moon tea, the drying was done without the access of light. Therefore, the tea is extremely delicate, having lost none of its natural properties.

The Fujian province, from which we brought White Moon, is one of the few producers of white tea. There is also a small number of white teas on the market from Nepal, India or Sri Lanka, but Fujian's tea is superior, not only in quantity but also usually in quality, since white there has a legacy of over 200 years. At the end of the 18th century, white tea was produced for the first time, created for the imperial court. Since then, it was exclusively reserved for Buddhist monks and the members of high-society.

Today, white teas are extremely popular not only in China, but also in Europe and America. They are prepared by pouring hot, not scalding, water over the leaves and can be steeped multiple times. However, the young shoots need a little more time to release their flavor. Pay attention to the preparation of the tea, it will reward you!

And remember to store it properly. White teas in particular (but also green and black) have the ability to absorb odors and moisture from their surroundings. Tea should always be stored away from air, light and moisture.
