Ingredients
Red tea Pu Erh, Yerba Mate, Orange peel, Natural aroma, Hibiscus flowerBrew & Taste
The beverage is a deep brownish red, which is thanks to the red Pu Erh. Its distinctively earthy flavor is mellowed by the tart maté. The addition of orange peel and a few drops of flavoring bring a very tasty twist to this healthy drink.
Teas containing pu erh are also perfect for iced tea.
Origins
Shape Tea is a well thought-out combo of ingredients found in both cultural traditions and modern nutrition standards. Each of them brings a different note to the final blend – from deep, earthy ripeness to a refreshing, slightly astringent invigoration.
The foundation is Pu Erh from the Chinese province of Yunnan, which is also known as the cradle of tea. It is here, in the misty mountains with high humidity and stable climate, where the tea plants with extraordinary attributes grow. Pu Erh processing is very detailed. After manual harvest, the leaves are handled using traditional methods and then fermented. This can last weeks to months and majorly affects the final character of tea. The result is a product that 'matures' with time – it grows rounder, milder, and gains the typical earthiness.
Pu Erh is a natural antioxidant and promotes thermogenesis, i.e., energy expenditure.
It contains, in particular:
- polyphenols (including catechins and their fermented forms),
- theaflavins and thearubigins,
- caffeine,
- microbial metabolites.
The second key ingredient is yerba maté, a beverage with roots in South America. It's technically not tea in the strict sense of the word, but rather the leaves of the Paraguayan holly. After harvest, these leaves are dried, fermented, and allowed to rest to develop their characteristic flavor and effects. Maté has been a part of daily life in Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil for centuries. Locals prepare it not only for its stimulating effects but also as a ritual of sharing.
Yerba maté is a highly valued antioxidant. It supports normal cardiovascular function, promotes fluid excretion, refreshes the body, and helps combat mental and physical fatigue. At the same time, it contributes to weight management and lipid metabolism.
Yerba maté is valued for its content of:
- caffeine (sometimes referred to as mateine),
- theobromine and theophylline,
- polyphenols,
- B vitamins, and minerals (e.g.,
- magnesium, potassium).
Orange peel is the third star of this blend, adding freshness, a subtle bittersweet flavor, and an aromatic note to the taste. The citrus fruits come from sun-drenched regions, most often the Mediterranean, where conditions are ideal for the development of essential oils and flavor. The peel is gently dried to preserve as many aromatic and functional compounds as possible.
Orange peel promotes normal digestion and stimulates the appetite.
It's rich in:
- flavonoids (hesperidin, naringin),
- essential oils,
- vitamin C,
- organic acids.
