Brew & Taste

The taste of this cold brew tea is light, naturally sweet, and nicely balanced. The first impression is full of juicy, sweet raspberries complemented by delightful apples. The finish reveals the pleasant herbal notes of mint and lemongrass as well as the charming sourness of dried hibiscus flowers. The result is a pure, refreshing, harmonious beverage with an attractively cool finish.

Origins

When you need to refresh your body and mind quickly, but don't want to reach for over-sweetened sodas, what do you do? In our opinion, the best thing to do is to prepare Raspberry Cold Brew tea. This irresistibly fruity drink with a cooling herbal accent is ready in minutes! And you don't even have to boil anything. All you need is a couple of things: spoon, some tap water, and 15 minutes.

This tea is made from high-quality, carefully selected ingredients. Raspberries (Rubus idaeus), known for their rich flavor and antioxidant content, come mainly from temperate regions of Europe and Asia. They’re small, juicy, red fruits that grow on thorny bushes which can reach up to 2 m and thrive best in mild climates. While they’re native to Europe and Asia, nowadays they’re grown almost all over the world. Raspberries can be used in desserts, jams, syrups, or as an ingredient for natural skincare. They’re rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, fiber, and ellagic acid.

Spearmint is a milder and more aromatic version of the classic peppermint. It’s popular especially in the Middle East since it does best in warm, sunny climates. Spearmint if perfect for adding flavor to drinks, salads, or sweets.

Lemon grass, a perennial tropical herb that grows up to 1.5 m, is, in one word, refreshing. It has long, slender, greenish-yellow leaves with a characteristic lemon-like aroma and grows mainly in Southeast Asia, where it’s an essential part of the local cuisine – especially Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian.

Hibiscus adds not only color but also a slightly sour note to the tea. It’s native to tropical Africa but nowadays can be cultivated in Asia and Latin America. The plant has an unmistakable, vibrantly red flowers, which can be harvested, dried, and brewed. This drink is especially popular in Egypt, where it’s known as kharkade. Most importantly, it contains plenty of vitamin C.

The flavor of this tea is brought together by stevia rebaudiana, which naturally sweetens the impression without overloading the body with unnecessary sugars. This low growing plant is native to South America, has distinctively sweet leaves, grows in subtropical regions, and is now commercially cultivated in many countries across the world. The sweetness of stevia is up to 300 times that of sugar, and it contains almost no calories. In tea, it serves as a natural sweetener without the side effects of artificial alternatives.

And preparation of this tea? Incredibly simple! Pour 2-2.5 teaspoons into 200-250 ml of water at a temperature of 15-20°C, leave to infuse for 15 minutes covered with a lid, and then strain. Serve on its own, with ice, or garnished with fresh raspberries and mint leaves. On warmer days, it will cool you down nicely, and on colder days, it’ll cheer you up without unnecessary acidity.

And if you prefer a hot drink, you can also pour boiling water (100°C) in a ratio of 1.5 teaspoon per 2 dl, leave to steep for 4-5 minutes, strain, and serve warm. Maybe with a little fruit dessert.
