Origins
Keemun is one of the classic Chinese black teas with a long tradition. It’s easily recognized by its delicate, slightly smoky character with honey and chocolate tones. Its taste is more balanced than most black teas, neither aggressive nor astringent, which makes it a great base for tea blends. In China, Keemun is traditionally drunk in the morning because it contains a decent amount of caffeine.
Apples and pears enrich the tea with natural sweetness and balance the smokier tones of Keemun. When dried fruit is steeped, it releases its sugar, so there is no need to add any sweeteners. Carrots in tea may sound a little unusual, but the result is worth it. Carrots have a delicately sweet, earthy flavor that’s simply perfect for this blend.
Safflower has been used in Asia for centuries. In the past, it was used to dye silk, but today it’s used to enhance teas. Its flowers give the drink a beautiful warm color and a delicate sweetness that blends so naturally with the other ingredients that without it, the tea simply wouldn't be the same.
