You'll recognize Jasmine as soon as you open the bag. There is probably no need to describe its mesmerizing scent. Perhaps only that, when combined with green Chinese tea, it creates a refreshing, sweet and very slightly astringent drink. Just enough to make you want to brew another cup of the pale yellowish color.
Jasmine tea tastes wonderful both hot and iced. Try making an iced tea with it.
Origins
Scenting green teas with jasmine is an ancient technique. Tea leaves absorb odors very well, so orange blossoms, magnolias, roses, hibiscus or chrysanthemums are added. The traditional way to flavor tea is to mix partially processed green tea with scented buds and leave everything in a heated room. This way the buds will unfurl and impart their fragrance to the tea.
China's Yunnan province is famous for its tea trees. The experience gained by the growers and processors there over several millennia is undeniable. High-quality varieties are harvested and processed only by hand, several times a year. The quality of the tea depends not only on the date of harvest, but also on where the tea plants grow and how they are produced.
