Origins
The vast majority of the ingredients come from Europe. Apples, beans, mistletoe, St. John's wort... Ingredients grown and processed to the highest standards are complemented by spices from all around the world that have been purchased from a certified supplier. Only for rooibos we had to venture to South Africa, where it's endemic. The shrub, with its long branches and needle-like leaves, has a very complex development – its roots reach deep into the soil to absorb underground water, and the plants need regular fires to reproduce. The Cape tea plant is harvested in early autumn. The material is chopped and piled into heaps in which it ferments. Fermentation gives it a mahogany color and a sweet-ish taste. The final step in the production is drying in the fierce African sun.
Cinnamon trees, the trees from which the bark – cinnamon – is harvested, are found in Thailand, China, Burma and Indonesia. Ginger is native to Southeast Asia, while cardamom is found in Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Guatemala. Cloves are typically found in the Moluccas, but are now also grown in the Mediterranean. The speciality of this tea is ginseng, the root of an Asian herb widespread in China, Russia and Korea.
The blending method and contents of Herbs for Men tea are inspired by the ayurvedic beliefs, which describe the steps we need to take for a healthy way of life, including the establishment of mental and physical harmony using the forces of nature. According to Indian Ayurveda, herbs, fruits and spices have the ability to bring the body into balance, and if complemented by a regular daily routine and exercise, will bring total harmony.
