Benefits of honeybush
Hot African sun, inhospitable land and a group of bushmen inviting you for tea. A social event like this is not to be refused, especially when it comes to a delicious honeybush. But away from the adventure movie scenario, you can enjoy a honeybush in your home.
Small, but very resilient - this is honeybush. It has beautiful yellow flowers and an intoxicating scent of honey that permeates the infusions made from it.
It is native to South Africa and has been traditionally used for thousands of years, mainly by the indigenous people of the area - the Bushmen. Fortunately, they did not keep its benefits to themselves and so its fame spread further into the world.
Although it is often referred to as tea, it is not. It comes from a completely different species of plant than the camellia sinensis or Chinese tea plant. However, this does not change the fact that it can be made into a delicious infusion with many benefits. Almost the whole plant (flowers, leaves and stems) is processed into various blends. The slow fermentation process makes the dried parts of the plant reddish in colour and gives them a wonderful honey flavour. Honeybush is completely caffeine-free, so you can indulge in it before bedtime or serve it to your children without worrying. Organic food lovers will also be pleased, as this shrub does not go well with chemical substances. Therefore, it is mostly harvested in the wild.
