Ingredients
100 % Guduchi BIOBrew & Taste
Guduchi has a bitter taste, so it is often mixed with milk or other herbs. The infusion itself has a light brown hue with golden highlights, reminiscent of ginger brew.
Origins
Guduchi, by its Latin name Tinospora cordifolia, is a climbing vine plant can also be found under the name giloy or amrita. In Sanskrit, amrit means nectar and in conjunction with Ayurvedic teachings, guduchi is therefore referred to as the nectar of the gods. It grows in parts of the Indian peninsula, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. It has large heart-shaped leaves and yields red berries. The stem is white on the inside and turns slightly yellow on the surface when chopped.
In Ayurveda, guduchi has been highly prized for millennia. It works on all three doshas, i.e. movement, energy, and metabolism. Emphasis is also laid on organic cultivation without unnecessary chemical interference by man. Although the whole plant can be used for its beneficial effects, you will mostly come across the processed stem of this herb in the market, in the form of powder or tincture.
Traditionally guduchi is added to milk, but you can't go wrong with plain water. It is also mixed with other herbs to enhance the flavor and enhance the health benefits, for example, it works wonderfully with turmeric. If you sprinkle the powder into alcohol, you can easily get a homemade salve for all sorts of ailments. However, as it is an adaptogen, i.e. an immunity booster and stress management aid, long-term continuous internal use is not recommended.
