Brew & Taste

Green barley brew is a light green color. It tastes very distinct, herbal and sweet. It is used directly in drinks or dishes, but because the powder is ground from leaves, it does not dissolve completely.

Origins

Because barley (Hordeum) is one of the traditional crops of Europe, we also choose European specialists to source it from. However, we would add that the use of barley in prehistoric times is also documented in Africa and Asia. It is probably from there that barley came to us 5,000 years ago.

This well-known agricultural crop of the leguminosae family comprises of 25 wild species and 1 cultivated one: barley (Hordeum vulgare). It is an annual or perennial plant and produces grains.

Barley was one of the first domesticated crops. The earliest evidence of its cultivation dates back to 8,500BC. Hunters and gatherers in the Paleolithic era planted it around the oldest settlements in northern Syria, Iran and Jordan. Later, barley was even used as currency, given religious or ritual significance, and in ancient Greece it was one of the special foods of gladiators.

But back to yooung green barley. It's nothing more than an early stage of this crop. Its young leaves have significantly positive effects on human health. So-called green foods or superfoods, which include young barley along with spirulina, chlorella and young wheat, contain important nutrients needed for the proper functioning of all organs. And because young barley tastes pleasant and is safe to eat in larger quantities, it has literally become a bestseller in recent years.

In most cases, green (young) barley is sold in the form of extracts or pills. In this case, it often has additives that give it flavor, color and shape.

Our green barley powder is entirely natural. It is created by grinding barley plants grown under strict conditions without pesticides. It does not dissolve in beverages, but on the other hand, when you use it, you can be sure that you are getting a 100% natural product.
