Origins
The two types of rooibos we have used for this tea come from the same plant – the Cape tea plant. It's endemic to Cape Town, South Africa. In the Cederberg region, on an area of just 25,000 hectares, tea bushes are harvested in early autumn. Their entire long branches and needle-like leaves are cut off. They are chopped into small pieces on special lines and then the path of green and 'red' rooibos is divided. The green is dried and sorted, while the raw material for the 'red' rooibos goes into piles and is left for 8-24 hours to ferment. Once fermentation is complete, it changes color from its original green to mahogany. This is followed by drying in direct sunlight, sorting, packaging and shipping.
All other ingredients – both fruits and herbs – come from verified EU suppliers. Their food processing certifications give us a guarantee of the highest quality. They only accept ingredients that are ripe, fresh and grown according to organic farming principles. This ensures that they are free of heavy metals and other harmful substances.
