Ingredients

100 % White tea BAI MU TAN

Brew & Taste

This white tea produces a beautiful yellow infusion with a pleasant, mild aroma. Its flavor is floral and is neither astringent nor bitter. On the contrary, Bai Mu Tan will leave a light sweetness and delicious refreshing aftertaste.

Origins

Bai Mu Tan does not come from any old tea garden. It is made from Chinese tea trees (Camellia sinensis) grown in the Fujian province. Its character is determined by the high mountains, frequent rainfall and special soil conditions. As a result, the tea trees are full of vigor and their buds have the necessary delicacy and ability to absorb the surrounding fragrances.

White tea (Pai Mu Tan, Bai Mu Tan, White Peony, Bai Mudan) could originally only be savored by the Chinese emperor. It was a very rare and delicate variety and the entire harvest went straight to the imperial court. Today, it is in demand not only in China, but also in America and Europe, but its production is still not able to meet the demand.

In order for the white tea to be of the highest quality, it must contain a large proportion of buds. These are harvested over a period of several weeks, the first time in mid-March. Women and girls go to the plantations in the hilly terrain with large baskets on their backs. They pluck the leaves and downy buds and pass them on for processing. The leaves are left to wilt and then dried. However, the air temperature has to be quite low, so that the leaves don't damage. This is why this part of the production is so long.
