Maté is taking the world by storm with a variety of flavors. We prefer natural ingredients to artificial flavors. The dark yellow to slightly copper-colored tea smells, of course, mainly of earthy maté. But you will also find fresh grapefruit, which is also noted in the flavor. If you savor it carefully, you may notice mint as well as the subtle touch of fennel and rose buds. Overall, the composition of Yerba Mate Fitness is pleasant, refreshing and exotic.
Origins
The vast majority of this loose-leaf tea is made up of specially treated leaves and twigs of the Paraguayan holly (Ilex paraguariensis), which is grown in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and, of course, Paraguay. The evergreen tree with stiff, ovate leaves was used for thousands of years by the Guarani people for its many health benefits.
The trees grow up to 20m in the wild, but farmers keep them at a maximum height of 8m. They are harvested every 3-4 years by trimming the youngest branches. In the case of Yerba Mate Green from Brazil, which is the basis of this tea, the harvest is carried out during the rainy season. The leaves retain their beautiful green color and high nutrient content.
The twigs are stuffed into bags with the leaves and left to oxidize naturally. The next step in the production of yerba maté is a short heating of the plant material to stop the chemical process. The leaves and twigs are then dried in special facilities. The resulting product is cut into smaller pieces and sorted. It contains 95% leaves and 5% small twigs. We import it from the farmer 3 months after harvest, so you can be assured of the freshness of the whole tea blend.
Yerba Mate Fitness also contains Pu Erh red tea and herbs as well as fruit. The first mentioned Chinese traditional tea is made from the leaves of wild-growing Chinese tea trees (Camellia sinensis). They are still processed by hand and the process is quite complex. Each tea garden owner has their own methods, which they guard closely. What is certain, however, is that the green leaves undergo a double fermentation process and are left to mature for months or years.
The fruit in this tea has been preserved by freeze-drying. It has therefore retained maximum health benefits, but also its natural flavor, aroma and color. The herbs come from a certified European supplier. Their processing is subject to the strictest controls. As well as packaging, storage and transport.
