Yarrow Bloom (Achillea Millefolium) – Herb
You've definitely seen this one. Yarrow blooms with white or pinkish flowers and has many benefits, whether you add it to a bath or enjoy it as a lovely drink. It's no coincidence that this is one of the most widely used herbs when even the mythical Achilles bet his vitality on it – so much so that it inherited his name in Latin: Achillea.
Ingredients
100 % Yarrow, YarrowBrew & Taste
Yarrow brew is pale and has an astringent, bitter taste.
Origins
An unassuming herb that is easy to miss or, worse, mistake for a weed. And yet, it has been the subject of praise for ages. Its tiny five-petalled flowers form a beautiful, rich crown, usually white, pink or reddish color. You will find them in bloom from May to August and their scent may remind you of chrysanthemums. The natural habitat of the yarrow is originally the northern hemisphere, from the Americas to Europe and Asia. However, it has gradually spread to other regions and adapted to different locations. You can find it not only in meadows and forests, but also in the mountains, around the coast or even in the desert.
The plant grows up to 80cm. It's been added to dishes since the 17th century for it's spicy, bitter taste. In combination with heather and limonium, it has been used to brew beer. The flowers were then used to make a very popular tea. The infusion can also be added to your bath to benefit your skin and refresh your mind. If you have yarrow growing in your garden, you can be rightly proud – you have good quality soil free of pollutants. Even birds like to use this herb to build their nests, as it acts as a protection against parasites and other pests.
Yarrow should not be used for long periods of time, as it can cause headaches if taken in larger doses than recommended. Yarrow is not suitable for small children, breastfeeding and pregnant women.
