Soba Cha – Organic Buckwheat Tea
The unassuming-looking buckwheat travelled a long way from its homeland in China to the rest of the world many centuries ago. In the kitchen, it will help you out whenever you want to conjure up a quick, nutritious and tasty dish. But did you know that roasted buckwheat has the same properties when brewed? Many Asians are not keen on this drink, but it's up to you to give it the benefit of the doubt.
Ingredients
100 % Buckwheats BIOBrew & Taste
Roasted buckwheat gives the infusion a bright yellow color and a sweet taste with a trace of nuts.
Origins
Although buckwheat is no longer considered an exotic plant, its origins date back to the distant Himalayas and other parts of the Chinese empire. Exactly how and when it spread to Europe cannot be determined, but it is theorized that it was the doing of the Saracens and Tartars. Tartary buckwheat is very popular in China because of its richer flavor and higher rutin content compared to common buckwheat.
Our buckwheat comes from Sichuan province, which can be described as a region of mountains and lakes. As it is a relatively undemanding crop, it can grow at an impressive elevations of 3000m. The seeds are undoubtedly the most popular.
Ku Qiao Cha (China), Soba Cha (Japan) or Memil Cha (Korea) are just a few names for roasted buckwheat tea. The buckwheat seeds are roasted briefly to give them an appealing golden brown color. Roasting also releases a delicious nutty flavor and aroma reminiscent of freshly baked biscuits.
Breaded buckwheat belongs to the group of pseudocereals and is therefore gluten-free. Moreover, the infusion is completely caffeine-free, so you don't have to worry about your beauty sleep with each successive cup. You can enjoy the roasted buckwheat drink up to 3 times a day, in both hot and cold versions. Roasted seeds can also be added to a variety of smoothies and porridges, but there is no substitute for a well-deserved relaxation with a cup in hand.
For sensitive people, it may cause photosensitivity.
