100 % Green tea Rukeri Rwanda OP BIOBrew & Taste
Rukeri Rwanda OP organic green tea has a light, greenish-yellow infusion. The aroma can be described as light, and fresh, the flavor is natural, harmonious, fresh, and slightly sweet. This tea is suitable for any time of the day.
Origins
The Republic of Rwanda, located a few degrees south of the equator, has been cultivating Chinese tea trees (Camellia sinensis) since the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, German missionaries brought tea bushes to the African country. Since then, Rwandans have made every effort to ensure that their harvests can compete on the world market. And they've done well.
Today, tea plantations are spread almost all over the country, not excluding the Rukeri region. They take advantage of the excellent volcanic soil, the altitude of 1,000-4,500m and the mild climate. This is what makes the tea grown in Rwanda taste so special.
The leaves for the production of green tea are plucked by hand by workers and processed in the traditional method. This means that they let them wilt, then steam them, ferment them briefly, shape them and dry them. Finally, the tea needs to be sorted and, of course, packaged.
As the name implies, Rukeri Rwanda OP organic green tea has been grown, harvested and processed without the use of industrially produced fertilizers or treatment products. The letters ''OP'' further reveal that it's Orange Pekoe tea, meaning made from the whole top leaves of the tea plant. This makes it a high-quality and desirable tea.
