Rosebuds produce a clear, pale yellow tea with a sweet, pleasant scent of roses. Its taste is sweet and floral, with a slight trace of rose aroma.
Origins
The history of roses (Rosa) and their cultivation is long and varied. As archaeological findings show, they have been found in nature since 35 million years ago and were cultivated by man around 7,000 years ago, probably in China. During the times of ancient Rome, roses were among the most popular herbs. People used them both to press rose oil and as decorations for various celebrations.
The wealthy used to plant entire rose gardens for their pleasure. The popularity of various rose cultivars continues to this day. In the 17th century, for instance, rose water was so rare that it was a luxury commodity. Rose lovers established extensive collections, and breeders worked on crossbreeding and discovering new cultivars.
Today, there are approximately 30,000 cultivars worldwide. When it comes to tea made from rose flower buds, it is described as one of the most beautiful and sophisticated. The tradition of drinking it probably originates in China, specifically during the Han Dynasty (141-87 BC). Its advantages include its irresistible taste and exquisite aroma, as well as its natural decaffeination and its many beneficial substances.
Rose is, among other things, an antioxidant, beneficial for toning and harmonizing the body and mind, helps the normal state of the skin, and contributes to menstrual and menopausal comfort.
