Origins
We present you with an exceptional composition of herbs and fruits, in which apples, moringa leaves and orange peel play a key role. Let's take a closer look. We’ve selected the sweetest, prettiest apple bits, which give this tea a pleasant aroma that’s almost dripping with juiciness. Apples come from the apple tree (Malus), which is native to Central Asia, but is now widespread throughout the world, especially in temperate regions. In ancient Greece, they were associated with the goddess of love, Aphrodite, and in the Middle Ages they became a common part of physical well-being. Dried apples are used in tea blends for their natural sweetness and delicate aroma, which goes together well with herbs and spices.
Apples contain mostly:
- pectins,
- vitamin C,
- natural sugars (glucose and fructose),
- malic acid.
What’s good to know about moringa leaves? That they’re fine, small and green, with a smooth surface and a slightly sweet smell. Moringa oleifera is native to the foothills of the Himalayas and is now mainly grown by farmers in India, Africa and Latin America. It’s called the ‘tree of life’ and its properties were described thousands of years ago in Ayurvedic texts. Moringa brings a fresh herbal note and a high content of valuable substances to tea blends. In addition to teas, it’s also processed as a powder to add to smoothies or soups.
Moringa has lots of:
- vitamins A, C & E,
- calcium, magnesium, potassium,
- high amounts of vegetable protein,
- flavonoids & polyphenols.
Also worth mentioning is the orange peel with its distinct citrus aroma and deep orange to brown color. It comes from the Chinese orange tree (Citrus sinensis). It originally grew in Southeast Asia, but is now mainly cultivated in the Mediterranean, the USA and Brazil. Orange peel gives the tea its freshness, mild bitterness and natural citrus aroma.
Orange peel contains:
- essential oils (limonene, linalool),
- flavonoids (esp. hesperidin),
- pectins,
- vitamin C.
