Mai Tai – White Tea
Mai Tai is the true king of any Tiki bar. The origin of the name comes from the Tahitian phrase "mai tai-roa aé" – out of this world. No wonder, then, that it brings a sliver of paradise everywhere it appears. Our tea version is based on the rich, fruity-citrus flavor and aroma of this famous cocktail. The only difference is you can drink as much as you'd like.
Ingredients
White tea, Apple chunks, Lemongrass, Orange peel, Sweet blackberry leaves, Almonds, Orange chunks, Safflower, Pot marigold petalsBrew & Taste
Mai Tai white tea is a very light yellow. It smells like the actual cocktail and tastes, in our opinion, perhaps a little better. You will find juicy oranges, warm almonds and fresh limes. The attractive ''liqueur'' trace adds to the overall experience.
Origins
In case you need a refresher on white tea, read on. It's a type of tea that comes from the tender buds and young leaves of the Chinese tea tree (Camellia sinensis). They are processed very delicately, so they retain more natural antioxidants compared to other teas. The name "white tea" is derived from the silvery white hairs that cover the young buds of the tea plant.
You can come across several types of white tea. Some of the best-known include Baihao Yinzhen (Silver Needles), which is considered the highest quality – it contains only unopened buds. You may also come across Bai Mudan (White Peony) containing the buds and the first two leaves.
White tea is popular for its delicate, fresh taste, slightly sweet or floral. The aroma tends to be delicate, sometimes with a hint of fruit or herbs. Let us add that white tea contains mainly catechins, which help fight free radicals in the body.
No punch is complete without almonds, so let's not leave them from our description either. The seeds of the almond tree (Prunus dulcis) are one of the most versatile and nutritious food supplements. Native to the Mediterranean and the Middle East, almond trees are now grown commercially in other areas of the world, such as California, which is one of the largest suppliers of almonds.
Almonds are nutritionally very rich, containing monounsaturated fatty acids, and are a good source of vegan protein, and fiber, as well as vitamins E and B, magnesium, zinc, manganese and copper. How and where can we use almonds? You will be familiar with almond flour as a gluten-free alternative to wheat flour, and almond milk suitable for vegans or people with lactose intolerance. In turn, almond oil is used in skin and hair care products because of its moisturising and nourishing properties.
Tea packaging preview
We pack our teas in a strong, zip-lock aluminum packet which allows you to easily re-seal its contents. This container protects the quality of the tea against humidity, light or foreign odors, all of which could noticeably affect the quality of the brew.
