Ingredients
100 % LemongrassBrew & Taste
Lemongrass gives a very light, yellowish infusion. Its aroma fully corresponds to its name, it is slightly lemony, slightly spicy. Lemongrass is well suited to flavoring hot and iced teas and dishes. It is excellent in combination with garlic, shallots or peppers.
Origins
Lemongrass can be found under the names citronella, beard grass, seréh or Heong Man. Botanically, lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a perennial tropical grass of the poaceae family. It occurs naturally in warm regions of Asia and Africa, and is also known to be used by natives of North and Central America. Because it is not very hardy, it can only be grown as a room plant in our latitudes. It needs to be moved indoors for the winter.
This perennial herb produces large clumps of long, pointed leaves. It can grow up to 150cm. All parts of it have a lemony scent thanks to the essential oils citral, limonene, linalool, nerol and geraniol. Thanks to its flavonoids, lemongrass is one of the most potent natural antioxidants. The leaves are used for culinary purposes. After cutting, they are gently dried so as not to lose their valuable aroma. Lemongrass does not contain any additional added flavoring or coloring.
