Lapacho Matto Grosso – Powder
The Brazilian rainforest seems to be an endless source of miracles. One of them is a tree called Pau d'Arco. It's unmissable for its beautiful purple flowers, but you won't see its main attraction at first glance. The ancient Incas sang odes to the tree's inner bark. They named it lapacho, which loosely translates as "to have power and strength". This tea could not have been more aptly named, and we now bring it to you in the form of a fine powder.

Origins
Lapacho comes from a tree of the same name. The Latin name is Tabebuia impetiginosa, but it's also called the Tree of the Gods or Trumpet Tree because of the shape of its flowers. The name Pau d'Arco was brought by colonists from Portugal. It means bow, as the hard and durable wood of this tree was used to make, among other things, these weapons. Tabebuia impetiginosa grows mostly in the central part of South America, and some trees are estimated to be up to 700 years old.
The magical power of the reddish inner bark was probably discovered by the famous healers of ancient times called kallawaya. Their representatives were among the most respected ranchers of the royal family in the Inca Empire. The Incas were fascinated by the healing powers of the lapacho and soon spread the knowledge of its effects to other parts of South America and the Caribbean.
About 25 years ago, the scientific community began to look into the secrets of lapacho. Many studies have confirmed the high content of beneficial substances in the body, led by lapachol, saponins and flavonoids. They discovered what the indigenous shamans had known for a long time. Lapacho has the power to tame a wide variety of bacteria and viruses, for example, and it also reduces pain and helps to cope better with the unpleasant symptoms of allergies.
It is no wonder that the people of the South American continent hold lapacho in such high esteem. In Paraguay, for example, it is considered the national tree. Even the harvesting of the bark itself is carried out very carefully so that the plant is not harmed. The scraped lapacho is then stored in a dark room where it dries with the help of dry air and can then be ground into a fine powder, which can then be easily made into an extract for external use.
