Benefits of reishi
The king of mushrooms in Chinese folk medicine. That is reishi, or the mushroom of immortality. Although it is more commonly known under this name in Japan, in China it is called Ling Zhi.
This parasitic fungus attacks the trunks and roots of some deciduous trees. It can be found almost everywhere in the world, including the Czech Republic, but it is mainly a targeted cultivation. It is rare in the wild. Its popularity is constantly growing, but it has long been highly valued, especially in Asia.
It was first described in Chinese folk medicine more than 4000 years ago. Its abilities were so respected that it was obligatory to submit every mushroom found to the imperial court. Reishi is typical for its reddish-brown colour and bitter taste. It can be eaten fresh, but for ease of processing and storage, you will mostly encounter the dried version. The finely ground powder is very popular and can be taken directly or mixed in water, juice or yoghurt. As mentioned, reishi is primarily sourced from farms. Therefore, when buying it, it is better to check the source of origin to ensure you get the highest possible quality and all the benefits this mushroom offers.
It is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
