Benefits of lucuma
The Inca empire was destroyed, and its treasures were stolen by the conquerors who disappeared without a trace. However, their famous gold still exists. That is what the Incas called a plant called lucuma, which still amazes the world with its benefits.
Lucuma is the superfood of our time. It is a sweet, juicy fruit of a beautiful yellow-orange colour with a large stone resembling a chestnut. It takes a young tree five years to grow its first fruit, but after that, it is covered with up to 500 pieces at a time.
The lucuma is native to Peru, Ecuador and Chile, where (of course) the fruit is available fresh. In our environment, this plant is found in the form of dried pieces or powder. Both are ideal for use in the kitchen, whether for exotic refreshments such as sauces and desserts or as part of tea blends or smoothies.
Its taste is a unique combination of refreshing mango and ripe pear - we cannot appreciate it enough!
