Grasshopper – Green Tea
Jumper of the Year! As soon as we picked the ingredients and blended this tea for the first time, it was clear that it would hop to the top of the popularity charts. And it did. We attribute that to the thoughtful combination of sunflower blossoms and soothing calendula. A touch of Japanese sencha brought all the ingredients into perfect harmony. Green harmony, of course.
Ingredients
Green tea Sencha, Green tea China Gunpowder, Marigold flower, Sunflower, AromaBrew & Taste
Pleasant, nice and soothing. That's how you can describe Grasshopper tea after brewing it. It has a deep yellow color with green highlights and a natural, slightly grassy aroma. When we taste it, we feel a slight astringency, refreshing notes of meadow with traces of fruit and herbs. On the palate, this loose tea leaves a sweet aftertaste.
Grasshopper loose tea is wonderful for making iced tea. Try pouring the lukewarm tea into a glass 2/3 full of ice cubes. You will get a deliciously refreshing drink.
Origins
Green Sencha is a common Japanese tea. Most people from the Land of the Rising Sun drink it. The word "Sen" means easy to prepare, i.e. simply pouring hot water over it, and "Cha" translates as tea. The most popular green tea is also referred to by its plantation name. The Sencha we used in Grasshopper was grown in the Shizuoka region, the most important Japanese tea growing area. Traditionally, the tea leaves are picked by hand, either by pinching or using special scissors. However, modern tea-growing technologies have made machine harvesting necessary in most plantations. The young to medium-old shoots must be processed as quickly as possible, i.e. wilted, steamed briefly and rolled into thin, needle-like noodles.
Great care has also been taken with the sunflower and calendula in this tea. We have imported them from verified EU suppliers with whom we have long-standing relationships. These are companies that are committed to quality and good technological practices in the preservation of fruits and herbs, as evidenced by many certificates. The orange peel is processed by so-called freeze-drying, i.e. vacuum freezing. This makes it look 'lifelike' – with vibrant colors, taste or aroma. Together with sunflower and calendula, it retains beneficial substances including antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.
