Origins
This tea would not be what it is without black Assam FOP, so let's mention the tea gardens of India. The Assam region lies in the northeast of the country, and unlike the surrounding regions, it has a very green and lush landscape. The rainfall in Assam is more abundant than elsewhere in India and can sufficiently fill the Brahmaputra River, which irrigates the entire area.
Adequate moisture, nutrient-rich soil conditions and intense sunshine are essential conditions for the growth of Chinese tea trees (Camellia sinensis). This is why they thrive so well in Assam and why tea garden owners there have been able to harvest top-quality leaves for generations. This has been since 1834. They devote many hours of care to the tea before sending it for export. First, they let it wilt and then ferment. During this natural and closely monitored process, the tea changes its color, flavor and aroma. Once this step is complete, the workers dry, sort and package the tea.
Goji, the fruit of the Lycium chinense plant, is already well-known. In particular, the high mineral content (potassium, calcium, iron) and vitamin content (C, B1, B6, E) have made the tiny red berries popular on the market. They ripen on a deciduous shrub with overhanging branches. The original distribution of the goji fruit extends to Asia, but today it is also grown in Hawaii and Java. Chinese medicine associates goji with boosting immunity, healthy liver functioning and improving eyesight. It can be eaten raw, dried, and made into juices or added to desserts.
We must mention the red currant, which is also found in Garden of India. These small red berries grow on deciduous bushes in grape-like bunches. Currants are grown in temperate climates, usually reaching 1-2m in height. Berries are particularly rich in vitamin C and fiber, and are used to make syrups, jams, and are also delicious raw or as part of many desserts. According to historical botany books, eating currants benefit the intestinal microflora, good digestion and strengthen the health of the excretory system.
