Ingredients
100 % Flor de ArenaBrew & Taste
Flor de Arena has a unique flavor, as it essentially lacks any distinct taste or aroma. Its infusion is clear and yellow, perhaps only slightly sweet, but nothing beyond that.
Origins
Flor de Arena (Tiquilia paronychoidies) grows wild on the slopes of the majestic Andes mountains. The higher the altitude, the tinier the plant becomes. It is a truly inconspicuous, low herb with hairy leaves and shoots, typically blooming with white flowers arranged in racemes. Its fruits contain small seeds.
The entire aerial part of the herb is hand-picked during flowering when it contains the maximum of aromatic and healthy compounds for phytotherapy purposes. Among the most important are flavonoids such as quercetin or rutoside, polyphenolic acids, steroid compounds, and essential fatty acids. It also contains minerals such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, copper, manganese, and zinc.
The historical background of Flor de Arena's use is not easily traceable, but its name gives a clue to its discovery and popularity by the Spanish conquistadors of the New World. "Flor de Arena" translates to "sand flower" in Spanish. Other names used include Hierba Blance or Te Indio.
Flor de Arena is often used in herbal blends. Experienced herbalists choose to combine it with Hercampuri (Gentianella alborosea) and Manayupa (Desmodium adscendens). When used alone, it can be made into a drink or added to a bath.
Do not cook Flor de Arena, as this can alter its properties.
It is not recommended for children, pregnant or nursing women.
