Green tea China Sencha, Carrot flakes, Candied papaya (papaya, sugar), Sunflower, Mallow flowers, AromaBrew & Taste
Fairy Magic loose-leaf tea gives a light yellow infusion with a very pleasant, fresh aroma. The taste reflects the refreshing astringency of green tea, sweet notes of papaya and gentle vanilla.
Origins
Green tea is made from the dried leaves of the Chinese tea tree (Camellia sinensis). Of course, the whole production process isn't exactly easy and every producer keeps their method a secret. Each tea garden keeps the exact instructions to themselves. As a result, there are thousands of different tea flavors, aromas, colors and shapes.
We can say that all green teas are plucked from the tea plants either by hand or by machine. They need to be left to wilt in the air and then heated rapidly. This is to stop the natural oxidation of the enzymes that are triggered when the cellular sructure is disturbed. If the workers let the leaves oxidize longer, they would end up with black tea after a few hours. Green tea must therefore either be heated in large pans or exposed to hot steam. The leaves are then folded, rolled or otherwise shaped, dried, sorted and packaged.
We know papaya more as a fruit than a plant. You may be surprised to learn that the tasty exotic fruit grows on an herb, not a tree. The papaya (Carica papaya) is probably native to Central America, but today it is grown in the tropics almost everywhere in the world. Its yellow-green berries can weigh up to 10kg. Inside they contain sweet, juicy orange or red flesh with black seeds. Papayas can be eaten fresh or made into jams or salads. Another option is low-temperature preservation known as freeze-drying.
Mallow flowers (Malva sylvestris), which we have also added to Fairy Magic, can be distinguished by their purple-pink color. The plant itself is found in the Mediterranean, but you can also find it in central Europe, especially along roadsides or on uncultivated land. Mallows bloom from June to October and they're collected by folk healers. Because it contains mucilaginous substances, a decoction of the flowers has a positive effect on the respiratory organs.
