Are you feeling like a wrung-out towel and need a reset for both body and mind? Energy Boost tea blends the power of tea and herbs into a drink that can get you back in the game with increased energy and vitality, improved focus and mood, and less fatigue. It combines maté, ginseng, cascara, lemongrass, and red pepper to create a pleasantly spicy drink with notes of lemon and a lasting finish.
Ingredients
Cascara, Yerba Mate, Siberian ginseng root, Lemongrass, Red PepperBrew & Taste
After brewing, you’ll get a golden yellow tea with a distinctively herbal and woody taste. It’s dominated by the earthy notes of yerba maté and ginseng, which add a poignant depth which is rounded out by the sweetness of cascara. Lemongrass adds a subtle, refreshing note. In the finish, you’ll notice the spicy sensation of red pepper. The impression is overall balanced and so tasty you’ll crave it every day.
Origins
People in South America cannot imagine a day without yerba maté. Argentinians and Uruguayans drink it literally all the time and everywhere: at home, at work, or even in the park. Maté contains caffeine, but also theophylline and theobromine, so it doesn’t flood the body with a sudden rush of energy like coffee does. The drink is made from the leaves of the Paraguayan holly and has a naturally stimulating taste with a typical earthiness.
Maté acts as an antioxidant and supports normal heart and blood vessel function. It helps the body get rid of excess water, suppresses mental and physical fatigue, and is overall refreshing. In addition, it affects lipid metabolism, thereby facilitating weight control. Traditionally, maté is drunk from a carved-out pumpkin-like fruit called the maté gourd through a metal straw called a bombilla.
Another valuable component of the blend is Siberian ginseng, also known as eleutherococcus. This shrub grows in the frosty forests of East Asia, where it’s very popular. Soviet scientists studied it in great detail and often used its roots and leaves in various experiments on athletes as well as cosmonauts.
Ginseng provides the body with energy and increases vitality as well as endurance. It contributes to good mental health, makes it easier to cope with stress, and improves sleep quality. What’s more, it has rejuvenating effects and acts as an antioxidant in addition to supporting normal functioning of the reproductive and respiratory systems. It also helps to keep the skin in good condition. Today, however, ginseng is also used for its unique taste and aroma, which complement the complex character of herbal blends.
Cascara is the dried husk of coffee cherries, which was long considered waste. Only in recent years has it become clear that it’s really worth using. Cascara doesn’t taste like coffee at all; it resembles dried plums, dates, or honey.
Lemongrass has been popular in Asia and Africa for centuries and is most often used in cooking and drinks. Its delicate citrus aroma and fresh taste are simply a must in Energy Boost.
At first glance, it may seem strange to put chili peppers in tea. But just a pinch is enough to give everything a much nicer spark. It makes the flavor a little livelier, warmer, and leaves a pleasant aftertaste on your palate. It's not exactly spicy, but rather adds a pleasant warmth that brings the whole blend into balance.
Energy Boost is a tea that will keep you going even on a busy day.
