Cinnamon-Apple Punch – Fruit Infusion
The aroma of apples, cinnamon, and oranges… What does that remind you of? We think of mountain retreats. On the outside, snow up to our knees and white silence all around. On the inside, a room filled with warmth and laughter. We've blended Cinnamon-Apple Punch to feel just like a cozy kitchen full of pleasant company, so this tea will warm both the body and soul.
Ingredients
22 % Apple chunks, Raisins, Rose Hip skin, Orange peel, 10 % Indonesian Cinnamon, Pear chunks, Hibiscus, Cloves, Star anise, Cornflower petals, AromaBrew & Taste
Right after you cover the loose Cinnamon-Apple Punch tea with hot water, you'll notice a strong aroma reminiscent of homemade fruit punch. The first hint of the taste is sweet like apples, raisins, and pears, which are slowly joined by the slight sour note of rosehips and hibiscus. A major role belongs to the spicy notes of cinnamon, its warmth accompanied by the aromatic cloves and mildly sweet star anise. The result is a full, pleasantly balanced tea full of spice and with a lasting finish. It's suited for colder weather, but the aroma will remind you of the winter festivities any time of the year.
Origins
Fruit infusions have one major advantage – they can combine the flavors and aromas of different corners of the world into one single cup. Cinnamon-Apple Punch is a great example. In addition to traditional European ingredients such as apples, pears, and rosehips, it also contains spices that have traveled along trade routes between Asia and Europe for centuries.
Cinnamon comes from tropical trees of the genus Cinnamomum. They grow primarily in Sri Lanka, India, and Vietnam. The sweet, spicy bark of cinnamon trees is among the oldest and most popular spices in the world. Even in ancient times, it was so highly prized that people used to offer it as a gift to current rulers.
Cinnamon contains, in particular:
- essential oils with a high content of cinnamaldehyde,
- eugenol,
- polyphenols,
- tannins,
- minerals such as manganese and calcium.
Cloves are, in fact, the unopened flower buds of the clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum), an evergreen tree native to the Indonesian Moluccas. It contains a high amount of the essential oil eugenol, which gives it its characteristic, intense aroma.
Cloves are rich in:
- eugenol,
- flavonoids,
- tannins,
- triterpenes,
- B vitamins.
Star anise also originates in Asia, specifically in southern China and northern Vietnam. The fruits of the evergreen Illicium verum tree resemble little stars and have a sweet, spicy flavor similar to anise. It is these fruits that give the tea its typical punch-like character.
We value star anise for:
- anethole,
- flavonoids,
- essential oils,
- shikimic acid,
- minerals.
Rosehips, the fruit of the dog rose bush (Rosa canina), are an equally important part of the blend. They're harvested in the fall, when they take on their deep red color and reach a high content of valuable nutrients.
Rosehips are known for their high content of:
- vitamin C,
- carotenoids,
- flavonoids,
- pectins,
- and fruit acids.
When these ingredients are combined with apples, pears, raisins, orange peel, and hibiscus flowers, the result is a blend that evokes the scents of holiday markets, homemade baked goods, and peaceful moments. Cinnamon-Apple Punch is a tea that will win you over with the very first sip.
