Origins
Except for the rooibos and honeybush, all ingredients are sourced from the EU. Thanks to our long-term cooperation with certified suppliers, we can choose the highest quality ingredients for our teas. They always come from controlled agriculture and therefore do not contain heavy metals or other harmful substances. The fruit is always harvested healthy and ripe.
It is preserved by freeze-drying. This is a special technology in which large pieces are shock frozen and dried under low pressure. As a result, they retain up to 90% of their vitamins and all important sensory properties. After pouring water over the fruit, it looks, tastes and smells like fresh.
Rooibos is a not-tea that is made from the leaves of the Cape tea plant. It grows exclusively in South Africa, around Cape Town, and is very demanding in terms of soil conditions, humidity and altitude. Whole twigs with needle-like leaves are harvested, chopped and, in the case of the green version of rooibos, dried and left unfermented. Honeybush falls into the same category. It is prepared from the Cyclopia intermedia shrub, more commonly referred to as 'honey bush'. It too is found only in southern Africa and the whole twigs and leaves are used for harvesting. Once cut, the green honeybush is dried in the sun. Honeybush is extremely sensitive to chemicals and the plant will die if there are any industrial chemicals in the air, soil or water.
