Origins
Since the most distinctive flavor of this fruit tea is almonds, let us dedicate the following lines to them.
Almonds are kernels from the fruit of the almond tree (Prunus dulcis). They come from warm and sheltered areas of the USA, particularly California, where the vast majority of the world's current production is harvested. Central Asia, Persia, China, Asia Minor or North Africa may be the original home of the almond. The almond tree is related to apricots and peaches.
Almonds contain amygdalin, which can be toxic in large amounts. However, modern almonds were bred to have as little of this bitter substance as possible, which also makes them sweeter. They're rich in protein, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins and are eaten on their own or in dishes. They are also used to make almond milk or almond oil, which is used in the cosmetics industry.
They have a variety of purpose, one of which is making marzipan, a sweet mass made from ground almonds and sugar. Known for its smooth texture and delicious taste, it is often used to make confectionery decorations, candies and fillings for chocolates or truffles. Marzipan has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Initially, it was produced in Persia, but it later spread to Europe, especially Italy and Spain. It was in medieval Europe that people considered it a luxury delicacy. To this day, marzipan is still well-known all over the world. We associate it with various cultural and seasonal celebrations such as Christmas and Easter.
