Origins
If you love the smell of the forest, the taste of ripe fruit, and subtle spicy undertones, then the Tulsi Forest Magic herbal tea will charm you right from the first. And because we believe that all teas need a story, let's tell this magical tale from start to finish. The base of the blend is basil – more specifically the sweet, aromatic holy basil, known from Ayurveda as Tulsi. The delicate green leaves bring a slightly sweet, herbal flavor to the infusion and add a pleasantly spiced aftertaste. But it’s more than just tasty – it’s plenty healthy, too. It contains:
- Polyphenols (e.g. rosmarinic acid),
- flavonoids (catechin, ellagic acid),
- essential oils (linalool, eugenol, cineol).
Elderberries play another note in this herbal symphony. The dark, almost black balls of elderberries are small reservoirs of beneficial substances that you’ll appreciate from spring to winter. They contain:
- anthocyanins (natural antioxidants),
- flavanols (e.g. quercetin, kaempferol),
- vitamin C and minerals.
A touch of citrusy refreshment is provided by orange peel, the dried pieces of which contain a wide range of beneficial compounds such as:
- Flavonoids (especially hesperidin),
- d-limonene (part of essential oils),
- pectens, and other antioxidants.
On the other hand, the rich red hibiscus flowers offer a sharper, more acidic side to the mix. These not only give the infusion its beautiful ruby color but also refresh and harmonize the whole composition. They contain:
- anthocyanins,
- flavonoids,
- phenolic acids.
And now comes for star ingredient – Tulsi, holy basil, the darling of Ayurveda. With a subtly spicy, sweet flavor and a wonderfully aromatic profile, it gives depth and harmony to the blend. It’s revered for its content of:
- Eugenol,
- rosmarinic and ursolic acid,
- caryophyllene, oleanolic acid,
- triterpenoids and other terpenes (e.g. cineol, linalool).
In addition, the tea also contains a sprinkle of ginger, which not only warms the body but also underlines the spicy notes in the composition. Its characteristic taste comes mainly substances such as:
- gingerols,
- shogaols.
And for a blend called ‘Forest Magic’, how could we not add the amazing scent of blueberries and other forest fruits? We’ve added a few drops of natural flavoring to enhance the overall experience of this drink – with this, you’ll really feel like you’re in the middle of the summer holding a handful of ripe, freshly picked berries.
