Royal Pistachio – Green Tea
Pistachios have something undoubtedly festive about them. Maybe it’s the unique color, or their history, and just maybe their natural, noble taste. This tea combines their slightly nutty flavor with green tea and a subtle fruity note. The result is an elegant composition even those hard-to-please tea lovers will enjoy.
Ingredients
54 % Green tea China Sencha, Roasted apple chunks, Coconut slices, White apple chunks, 5 % Pistachio, Cranberries, Cornflower, Natural aromaBrew & Taste
The color of the infusion is light and translucent, with a golden sheen and a subtle green hue. In the taste, you’ll first notice pure green tea. Slowly joined by pistachios, suddenly, it’s all subtle nutty notes, soft and almost reminiscent of a high-quality pistachio cream.
Apples add a juicy and light impression, making the flavor more airy. Coconut smooths everything out and ties each ingredient together. In the finish, you can notice the slightly sour note of lingonberries, added for a refreshing touch to balance everything out.
Origins
This blend is built on the foundation of green tea – and everyone knows it has a long history. It’s been a popular beverage in China for thousands of years and was once reserved only for the highest ranking officials. After harvesting, the leaves are briefly heated to preserve their natural shape and character. This keeps the taste light and pure while preserving the substances that make the tea so popular.
But green tea adds more to this blend than just delicious taste. It acts as an antioxidant and contributes to normal lipid metabolism, cholesterol levels, and proper blood vessel and heart function. Many people also drink it to support their metabolism and cognitive functions.
Pistachios weren’t always this widely available. Before they made their way to European pantries, they had to be imported from faraway lands and for a long time, they’ve been considered a luxury rather than a regular commodity. Pistachios were brought in on trade routes along with spices and silk and were something everyone desired, but only a select few could afford. And they still carry that feeling of small luxury today.
Lingonberries are traditionally associated with supporting normal urinary tract function and natural immunity. They’re also a source of antioxidants. Apples are one of the longest cultivated fruits. So Royal Pistachio tea provides not only delicately sweet flavor, but also a boost of fiber and vitamins A and C.
Coconut is a natural source of fats with a predominance of lauric acid, which is associated with the production of monolaurin, an antimicrobial substance, in the body. The latter has been the subject of much research, which is one of the reasons why coconut has long held its place not only in gastronomy but also in nutrition.
Tip! Make the tea a bit stronger and let it cool, then add a little honey and a drop of vanilla extract. The result is a drink that resembles a delicate pistachio dessert, but remains low in calories.
