95 % Black tea, Bergamot, CornflowerBrew & Taste
The Earl Grey black tea is characterized by a beautiful copper color and a distinctive aroma and taste of bergamot. This tea is very refreshing, strong and astringent. It is suitable for making iced tea too. You can also flavor it with milk, sugar, honey, or lemon.
Origins
Ceylon (Sri Lanka since 1972) is famous for its black tea production. Most of the tea is exported to Europe and Asia as raw material for the production of classic portioned teas – especially English Breakfast and Earl Grey. The tea plantations cover about 190,000 hectares of land and are spread at a range of altitudes. The harvest takes place three times a year. The women and girls set out early in the morning equipped with large baskets and pick the tea leaves gently, which are usually plucked using two fingers. Within 24 hours, they become one of the finest teas in the world. When they arrive at the factory, they are spread out on large grates and left to oxidize naturally. This gives them a delicate golden brown color. Then comes the rolling, breaking, drying and crushing. Monitoring the temperature, humidity and length of the process is essential. Any mistake can mean the destruction of the batch, which makes it a huge loss for the farm. The resulting fine tea is packed into 25kg bags and taken to market or exchange.
Earl Grey contains the typical bergamot essential oil. It is an extract from a fruit similar to lemon or tangerine. The excellent recipe for the combination of black tea and bergamot was brought from China in the mid-19th century by British Prime Minister Grey. It quickly became popular, and today the tea called Earl Grey is produced by large corporations.
The flavoring we have added to Ceylon tea is purely natural. You don't have to worry about synthetic alcohol derivatives that cause heartburn and acidity in the body.
