Ingredients
100 % Black tea Ceylon DIMBULA OP IBrew & Taste
This tea has a dark orange-red infusion and an original taste. It has a subtle but pleasant tang which makes the whole composition wonderfully refreshing. It's strongly astringent, but any true tea lover can appreciate that. If you would like to make the tea more sweet, add some milk.
Origins
The Dimbula region of Ceylon includes extensive plantations on the hillsides. Tea grows at altitudes of 1,000-1,500m, and its quality is mainly influenced by the heavy summer monsoon rains alternating with dry winters.
Teas from Ceylon (nowadays Sri Lanka) are among the best in the world. This is even though this tropical island has originally made history as a coffee producer. But when a fungus took hold of the coffee plantations, farmers sowed the first available areas with Chinese tea trees (Camellia sinensis). Soon tea became Ceylon's main export commodity. It is harvested manually by local women. They can pluck up to 12kg of tea leaves a day. These are taken to a processing factory, spread on screens and left to wilt. Then they oxidize at high humidity and temperature. This strictly controlled process is completed by drying.
