The honey-colored infusion is very pleasant to the taste. It is reminiscent of green tea with wildflowers. The flowering meadow is also noticeable in the aroma. You can indulge in a reasonable amount for a long time. After three months, however, we advise a break of a few weeks.
Origins
If you look in the Celtic tree zodiac, you will find that people born under the sign of the birch are simply brilliant. Just be born on the summer solstice and you've already inherited goodness, modesty and general popularity under the sign of Birch.
Up to 25m tall, it's a slender beauty with a swishy bark pattern and a flood of tiny leaves. Unassuming yet popular for its versatility.
It can be found all throughout the northern hemisphere. The most common birch you will find here is the white birch (Betula pendula). The bark of most species has specific ornaments and looks as if the top layer is constantly peeling off. During the flowering season, catkins appear on the branches and the fruit is full of seeds that will be dispersed by the wind.
It is relatively undemanding in terms of soil quality, needing only enough moisture and sunlight. Its occurrence is quite abundant, mainly because of its usefulness. It can fill in an area very quickly, e.g. after forest fires. Birch wood has been used since ancient times in all areas of the woodworking industry, whether for furniture or as fuel.
Birch bark and sap are a constant in folk medicine, and cuisine. The dried leaves are then used for infusions and the Finns, for example, love this drink. However, you don't just have to drink it. If you add it to your bath or use it to make a hair mask, you're sure to get nice results. Birch is an allergen, so people with pollen allergies and high blood pressure should be careful around it.
Not recommended for expectant and nursing mothers.
