100 % Oolong Tanzania UsambaraBrew & Taste
The dark amber infusion reveals a captivating play of nut notes with a cocoa undertone. The taste is full and complex, with a velvety texture and a subtle sweetness, especially in the second infusion.
Origins
Historically, Tanzania has not been the cradle of the finest teas. Instead, they were used as an admixture for bagged satchets, mainly due to the unstable quality, which varied from year to year. However, in the 1930s, local farmers found a suitable cultivar that could withstand the monsoon season and the hot sun, marking the beginning of success.
After Tanzania's independence, the idea of bringing small growers together to better control cultivation and unify the processing of the leaves was born. Little by little, they perfected their tea gardens and began to take full advantage of the abundant natural resources in the beautiful surroundings of the Usambara National Parks.
Tanzania Usambara Oolong has the attribute of artisan tea. This is because the growers emphasized honest handwork, from picking the individual leaves to carefully bottling them and the typical tossing in bamboo baskets to shake out the greenery. The result is a large, lightly rolled, and dark colored leaf with silver tips, with a captivating floral aroma with malty notes, an aroma similar to Darjeeling.
It is certainly interesting to savor the subtle nuances between the first and second infusions of Usambara Valley oolongs. The intensity and complexity of the flavor gradually build into a pleasant sweetness, with the initial nutty tones giving way to ripe fruit. Either way, this oolong is a tea that will make you happy and will become one of your favorite treats.
