Origins
The Chinese province of Sichuan is typical for its diverse geography and climate. The Sichuan Basin is surrounded by mountains and the eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau. The lowlands have a humid subtropical climate with foggy, wet winters and hot summers, while the western plain has a cooler mountain climate. This supports rich biodiversity and various ecosystems.
Sichuan Pi Lo Chun is cultivated on the slopes of mountains in favorable conditions that provide the tea plants with everything they need – fertile soil, moisture and sunshine. As a result, the leaves absorb a unique aroma, and the resulting tea has a wonderful, complex flavor.
Pi Lo Chun teas are referred to as "spring rain" – it only makes sense that farmers would harvest them in spring. They focus exclusively on the smallest, youngest leaves and buds. It guarantees a delicate taste and top-quality tea. The production process involves a short exposure to high temperatures and molding into a distinct shape. Finally, the tea needs to be dried slowly and carefully. This green tea, considered one of the pearls of Chinese tea culture, requires delicate handling. To avoid losing any flavor nuances it offers, prepare it by covering it with water at a maximum temperature of 80°C. Sichuan Pi Lo Chun can be sipped throughout the day due to its low caffeine content.
